Back to the Buzzr

Welcome to this edition for the first time since March. What did we miss in this edition? You'll see once I return.

It was a split vote for the St. Patrick's day marathon, but we'll have another one after we tell you......things we missed.

You were there when you turned on your Tvs to Concentration, because for the first time in over 4 decades, the classic match em up game makes it way to Buzzr and Jack Narz mans the ship to a voyage of puzzles and prizes.

You witnessed.....BZZZ! moving to a late night time slot from the early evening hours.

Also, buzzr Bingo made its way back to the fold while the staff of the network worked remotely to keep you all safe from COvid-19.

So here's a question......Which verion of Concentration is better? You get 2 weeks to decide.

Focus up........Concentrate!

The Fans listened. They spoke. ANd it'll be here for you once I return.

Checking the results on that last Buzzr Beater question......it was a split vote regarding the St. Patrick's day marathon. We'll have another question after I tell you about what's about to go down.

Game show fans, your dreams have now been fufilled. Turn to your buzzr stations come March 30th and let's get down, because what you are about to see will change the world......................................forever.

For the first time in god knows how long, Concentration finally makes it way to the world with reruns of the long running NBC classic game show. Jack Narz will be your guide to this match for prizes classic game and Buzzr will be the only destination in which one person can win a car solving 2 puzzles in just 10 seconds. It's going to be fun.

So are you going to watch it? You get 2 weeks to think on it.

Behind the Mismatch

We all know about The Match game Hollywood Squares hour getting new episodes, but one host tells us about his experiences of the whole show. See why once I return.

Is everybody ready to see Sweep return to ABC? Unanimously, it's a yes. We'll have one mroe, but first, let's talk MG-HSH.

It started with this tweet from Dave Holmes.......

All I want to talk about is 1984's MATCH GAME HOLLYWOOD SQUARES HOUR on @BUZZRtv, and @decider let me. https://t.co/0FPqh0NnAw
— Dave Holmes (@DaveHolmes) February 5, 2020

Jon Bauman, the host of that show responded with this.....

The show was kind of an emergency replacement for a failed soap opera as I remember it. An hour had to be filled so the idea of marrying the two classic game shows was born. The head of game shows at NBC was a Goodson alumnus. Heater/Quigley had sold Squares to Orion TV, but...
— Jon “Bowzer” Bauman (@JonBowzerBauman) February 7, 2020

Goodson was going to get the hour because of the NBC connection. Irony was that Goodson had written a scathing letter to Variety in the 60’s complaining that Squares was a small step from the quiz show scandals of the 50’s because of the written jokes. Meaning...
— Jon “Bowzer” Bauman (@JonBowzerBauman) February 7, 2020

Civilians weren’t given the answers, but the celebrities were establishing a false standard for wit by reading punch lines to a two-line joke off a page as if they were comic geniuses making them up. Goodson was tough but smart, & honest in this way. He was quite proud...
— Jon “Bowzer” Bauman (@JonBowzerBauman) February 7, 2020

Of the clever, honest banter on his panels going back to “What’s My Line” & “Match Game” continued it. He would have produced the old-style Squares over his dead body.

So the result was every comedian in Hollywood grappling with “Here’s the setup- what’s the punch line?”
— Jon “Bowzer” Bauman (@JonBowzerBauman) February 7, 2020

Fascinating from a comedy point of view- but really, no one could do it that well. Leno, Arsenio, Howie Mandel- everyone tried & some were better than others. But no one could really do it because the standard set by Paul Lynde reading the punch line off a piece of paper was...

And there you go.

So, did you see the new episodes of MG-HSH on Buzzr? You get 2 weeks to decide.

Bzzz This!

We know that we're in January but next month is February and Buzzr has a guaranteed lineup sure to light your fire on Valentine's day when I return.

So we asked you is Split Second an informational and educational show? By a margin of 3-1, they went with Yes. Why, because of the questions provided in the game. We'll have another one after I tell you about the V-Day plans Buzzr has.

Valentine’s Day is for Game Show lovers! Feb. 9th & 14th BUZZR brings you NEW to the network episodes of Password Plus with Betty and Allen, Sale of the Century’s “Salute to True Romance”, Tattletales 77 featuring Joan Collins, Ron Cass, John Ritter & Nancy Morgan and more!

But to make things more interesting...........

Yep. Bzzz! The 90's show that rewrote a whole new dating game chapter is coming to Buzzr with Annie Wood, the very hyper cupid host. This is going to be an event all game show fans won't miss.

So, are you willing to see Bzzz! on February? You get 2 weeks to think on it.
