Time again for @ The Buzzr. Gene Rayburn took on a panel show and this time....it involes connections. More on that after this.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

The Buzzr beater reminds you if Wordplay would've lasted longer on Buzzr and Yes cleaned out the board. Nice job. Now we get back to Make The Connection.

The object of the game was for the four celebrity panelists to "make the connection" between two people who would sit on both sides of the host. Each time a panelist failed to make the connection within 30 seconds, the contestant earned $25. The game ended after a panelist guessed the connection or the guest earned $150. Like many of its sister panel shows, it also featured the obligatory appearance by a celebrity guest, who would play the game as a contestant.

With Borden being a sponsor, Jim McKay was the first host, but Gene Rayburn took it to the end. It only ran for 4 months, so that's Make The Connection.

The Buzzr Beater question tells us do you prefer Jim McKay or Gene Rayburn. You get 2 weeks for thinking.

That should end it.  anything you question or comment goes to me on social media or email and we'll explain. We will see you all @ The.....................

Welcome to @ The Buzzr.  What was Tom Kennedy's last game show? If you said Wordplay, then you would be correct. More on that once I return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

We asked you if you had an Amazon Prime subscription, would you watch it? A big Yes from many people sayeth you and we'll giveyou another one after we tell you about Word play.

Word Play had Peter Tomarken host the pilot, but instead picked Tom Kennedy to host it. 3 celebrities define odd and unusual words and 2 cilvians try and pick which word is real for money. Better yet, every word connected to it gives you more.

Most money gets to play DOuble Definitions where 2 short definitions to one word is connected for a progressive jackpot. Oh and by the way, the bonus word gives you a nice vacation.

It was on Buzzr after the Lost & Found week came in but after 3 shows......Match Game replaced it so......

The Buzzr beater question wants you to know should've Wordplay been lasted longer on Buzzr? You get 2 weeks to think on it.

Welcome to @ The Buzzr. If your area doesn't have Buzzr, don't worry. We have something to give it to you as an alternative. That'll happen after I return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

We told you what Merv Griffin is known for and you all chose Wheel by just a slim margin. We'll have another one after I tell you about this alternative.

Welcome to @ The Buzzr.

Before he created Wheel and Jeopardy......he was a host. That's right, a host, and we'll prove to you who he is once I return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

We asked you which team would you be on Choose up Sides and neither one answered. Maybe I'll try a different question after......Play Your Hunch.

Before he did a talk show, future game show creator Merv Griffin did Play Your Hunch.

Two couples (or occasionally pairs with other relationships) competed. The game revolved around "problems" which involved a choice between three visible possibilities (often three people) which were always labeled X, Y, and Z. Some questions would have an element of observation; for example, one couple was asked which of three labeled musicians amongst the show's band was not playing his instrument and was merely pretending. Other problems depended mainly on luck in guessing correctly.
The teams were alternatively presented with problems and had the choice to play or pass after the choices were unveiled but before the problem was described. The couple who played the problem discussed the answer amongst themselves until a chime rang and the couple had to answer. If the couple was wrong, the opponents had the choice between the remaining two answers. If either couple got the right answer, they earned a point, with three points winning the game. In addition, each team earned $50 a point ($100 a point on NBC's primetime edition). At least once every show, the couples would also have to solve a "come-closer" problem, which involved coming up with a numerical answer to a problem by writing their answer on a slate (example: how many coffee beans in a displayed container); the teams would then reveal their slates, and the team who guessed closer to the actual answer would score a point.
Couples remained on the show as champions until they were defeated, with the first question of each game going to the challengers.

Now play this Buzzr beater question. What do you think Merv Griffin is known for? You get 2 weeks to decide on that.

Welcome to @ The Buzzr.

This past Saturday, we lost a game show legend. A dealer before Wayne Brady.

Born in Canada, Monty Hall did work in his homeland and went to New York to continue his work like....

And Video Village.

But he's been known for Let's Make a Deal.

Again in 1980....

1984......

in 1990 when Bob hilton left....

And a few appearances in 2003 and in the current version.

He also hosted Split Second in 1986.....

It's Anybody's Guess in 1977....

And his only gig with Goodson-Todman, Beat The Clock in 1979.

But he was also an actor and humanitarian too and joins Howie Mandel and Alex Trebek to be in Canada's Walk of Fame.

@ The Buzzr would like to send our condolences to TV's big Dealer. He may be gone, but Wayne & Company keep the spirit on. Thanks for reading.

Welcome to @ The Buzzr. With Beat The Clock returning to make it kiddie-Friendly, one show actually did a kids version of Beat The Clock. More on that once I return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

We asked you which format of Trivia Trap did you like and it was a dead heat. Maybe another one will give it to you after I tell you about Choose Up Sides.

Although it was short-lived, Choose up Sides first came on CBS with Bob Kennedy hosting and had a ring toss for points, before moving things over to NBC with Gene Rayburn hosting.

Both versions had the Bronco Busters and the Space Pilots do battle. This time the loser of the stunt got a chance to earn points from Mr. Mischief voiced by announcer Don Pardo.  The stunt was timed by a baloon about to go pop when it stopped abruptly. There was a Super Duper Doo stunt each month for a bonus prize. This turned into sportsmanship in the fifties at that time.

Now comes the Buzzr beater question. Which side would you be on if you played Choose up Sides? WE'll give you 2 weeks to figure that one out.

That my friends, is it.  anything you question or comment goes to me on social media or email and we'll explain. We will see you all @ The.....................

Welcome to @ The Buzzr. In 1984, ABC wanted the next best thing. What was it? More on that once I return.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InjopuqU_d0

Now we reveal which show are you looking forward to for Lost & Found Week and Trivia Trap won in a close one. And speaking of Trivia Trap......

Dateline, October 1984. ABC aired Trivia Trap and it starred Bob Eubanks in his first outing with Mark Goodson Productions and Edd Kalehoff scored the music for it. The teams consisted of Juniors who are under the age of 30 and Seniors who are one day past their 30th birthday. The first format dealt with 3 wrong answers to weed out while 1 of course is the right answer. That's the trivia trap.

Pretty soon after the all-star week which was with Jayne Meadows, Betty White, Bill Cullen and others, the format was flipped around when the first round was fact or fiction and 2 packets were used to determine if its true or false. One of the statements is used when Bob told the home audience at the show's start. The next was the trivia trap round in which one person picked the answer and the other teammates must agree or disagree to pick the real answer.

After this was the $1000 Race in which a team picks a question from 3 subjects and teammates have to answer quickly to reach the goal of $1000. After this, the winning team had to try for $10,000 by climbing the ladder in which wrong answers eliminate a player.

It went up against Price and Wheel but got clobbered until it was replaced in April 1985 with All-Star Blitz. But nonetheless Bob would team with Mark again for Card Sharks.

Now the Buzzr Beater poll question. Which Trivia Trap format did you like best? 2 weeks will be the limit for it.
