We all know about The Match game Hollywood Squares hour getting new episodes, but one host tells us about his experiences of the whole show. See why once I return. 

Is everybody ready to see Sweep return to ABC? Unanimously, it's a yes. We'll have one mroe, but first, let's talk MG-HSH.

Jon Bauman, the host of that show responded with this.....

The show was kind of an emergency replacement for a failed soap opera as I remember it. An hour had to be filled so the idea of marrying the two classic game shows was born. The head of game shows at NBC was a Goodson alumnus. Heater/Quigley had sold Squares to Orion TV, but...

Goodson was going to get the hour because of the NBC connection. Irony was that Goodson had written a scathing letter to Variety in the 60’s complaining that Squares was a small step from the quiz show scandals of the 50’s because of the written jokes. Meaning...

Civilians weren’t given the answers, but the celebrities were establishing a false standard for wit by reading punch lines to a two-line joke off a page as if they were comic geniuses making them up. Goodson was tough but smart, & honest in this way. He was quite proud...

Of the clever, honest banter on his panels going back to “What’s My Line” & “Match Game” continued it. He would have produced the old-style Squares over his dead body.

So the result was every comedian in Hollywood grappling with “Here’s the setup- what’s the punch line?”

Prior to January of This year, Buzzr has aired 3 hours at least of E/I programming, but now comes a cutback that affects the schedule. See why once I return. 

Did you all see a Betty White CHristmas on Buzzr? Of course, you all did. Bu we got some more after I tell you about this programming change. 

FCC passed a revision this past summer to the E/I rules - formerly, each channel and subchannel a station carries had to program three hours of E/I. Three hours on your Main .1, three hours on your .2, three on .3, on down the line.   The new rule is a cumulative three hours (more if they choose, but three hours is the requirement) for the station, with one hour of the station's requirement being fulfillable by the station's secondary channels if the station so chooses and no requirement for secondary feeds otherwise. 

So.....

Starting the first weekend of January 2020, Buzzr's weekend airings of E/I content (currently airing from 10:00am to 11:30am Saturdays and Sundays) is reduced from three hours to one hour (10:00am to 10:30am), with the 10:30am to 11:30am hour now filled with additional airings of Split Second 86. These are still new-to-Buzzr episodes.

That means you get more questions that connect to something and more chances to win a car. Yay!

In recent weeks, Split Second came to Buzzr and it came to be. But let's focus on the 2 bonus games that was a breakeven for the show. I'll tell you why once I return. 

Are you prepared to see the Veterans Day marathon? It was Yes by one vote and it was close. We'll have another one after I tell you about teh 2 bonus rounds of Split Second.

Let us focus on the first and TRUE bonus round. With the New Hollywood Squares already adpoting the original 1972-1975 bonus game at that time, they had 5 screens that actually turned around. 1 says car and the other have $1000. If the cash is there, the person returns tomorrow until he or she reaches the 5 day limit and the car is automatically his or hers. But if the car is picked, then it's a win and he or she retires.

Later in 1987, things got a little harder. 3 of the screens said "Car" and teh others had a prize. This time, if a prize is revealed, Monty Hall temps them with money to go with the prize and forces him or her to quit. Otherwise, he or she may forfeit that and try another day for teh car. 3 car screens and it's theirs. 

So which bonus incarnation did you like best? You get 2 weeks to think on it.
