Paula Rhodes: 'Twas the day the moment it went live from Periscope Plaza, and all through the house, something seems to be stirring........oh yeah,  it's @ The Buzzr. Now here he is, the master of everything buzz, the man who spent way too much time in an isolated room just to free himself,  Pierre.......KELLY!

Me: You found the only blog at the top of our Christmas wish list and that is an all new @ The Buzzr, where we discuss the whole Buzzr universe. Today......

Something is daring.

Isolation booths are rare to see in game shows. Starting with the $64,000 Question and 21, these 2 set the standard for a rarity in the genre. Goodson-Todman in 1976 wanted that rarity and that came in the form of.....

Um, mmm, no, not that one.....

Thank you. A creation of staffer Jay Wolpert at the time, they wanted a host. That host....

Alex Trebek. 2 years after High Rollers got cancelled before the new one came in by '78, Alex wanted to take a shot at this project. By the last month of 1976, CBS picked it up and when I return, we'll tell you how it goes and how long did it last.

Our last Buzzr beater question told you want you wanted on $OTC if you played. None of you came up with answers. Perhaps you were thinking of the 2007 version of Temptation, but I digress. I'll have another one up when I'm done talking about Double Dare....which we're getting back to right now.

2 in isolation booths guess subjects from clues. The first clues are obscure and are harder to guess. Past the halfway point until the 10th clue, which gets easier as it goes along. A correct guess earns $50 and can dare on the next clue. If incorrect, the opponent will guess on the penalty clue and if correct as an option, will force a challenger to dare on that penalty clue. If not, the opponent gets the advantage and play continues until someone gets it right. A dare is worth $100 and $200 on a double dare, plus half of it if the opponent gets it correctly. First to $500 wins the whole thing and faces....

The spoilers. They are all PhD's.  The task was simple.....well, not quite simple. Give 4 clues hoping they can't think of the correct answer. If one spoiler gets it, $100 to it. If he/she gets stumped, the civilian gets $100 each time, 4 times and it's a $5000 payday. The program was up against Wheel of Fortune, but got trounced by it in the ratings, so until it cancelled in April of 1977, they went up against Sanford & Son reruns. Same result. But still the program had only one highest paid winner: Alan Lusher, who went on to play Jeopardy! with the same host. Weird, huh? And that pretty much is Double Dare.

Now I have a dare for you. The Buzzr Beater question. What's the one aspect of Double Dare do you like most? It'll be 2 weeks on the right side of the blog, so get to it!

And that pretty much sums up a daring show. If there is any questions about the show, or would like to suggest a show or a host, please reach me on Facebook at : Pierre Jason Kelly, or @Johnny_Arcade on Twitter and we'll explain. Until then, it's PK signing off and we'll see you.....@ The.....
